Using Adobe Contribute 2

What is Contribute 2?

Contribute is a web page editor that allows editing of content without prior knowledge of HTML. It is an easy and quick way to add, update and publish content to web pages.

How does it work?

You browse the Internet within Contribute 2. At a page that you can edit, the edit button is enabled. Click this edit button to make changes. Click the publish button and the page on the main site is updated.

What can I do with Contribute 2?

  • Collaborate with others to update and publish content.
  • Quickly update text, images and add new pages.
  • Attach PDFs, and Office Documents online.

How do I get Contribute 2 installed?

  • Contact your computing officer who will arrange the installation of Contribute for you.
  • Sign up for the EUCS course “Editing Web Pages with Contribute”
  • Contact the web team to allow us to arrange access to the web pages you need to edit.

Tutorial

Navigating to a page using the address bar in Contribute 2

  1. Open Contribute 2 by clicking on the icon on your desktop.

  2. On loading Contribute 2 you will be presented with this screen:

  3. Select the text in the Address Bar
  4. Now enter a URL that you are familiar with e.g. http://www.ed.ac.uk

  5. Then click on the Go button.

    The Contribute browser works like a standard web browser, letting you do the following:

    • Navigate to websites and locate pages by clicking links
    • Refresh pages to see updates
    • Reload pages you've visited using the Back and Forward buttons
    • Enter website addresses in the Address text box
