The Contribute 2 Interface

Overview

Using the Contribute browser, you can visit a website by entering its web address in the Address text bar in the toolbar.

You can browse to any website using Contribute, but you can only edit the pages of sites that your support team has created connections to.

The Contribute Toolbar

The Contribute toolbar is similar to Internet Explorers toolbar for navigating the Internet with the exception of the “Edit Page”, and “New Page” buttons.

Edit Page Button

Once the edit page button is pressed Contribute changes from site navigation mode to editing mode, where the current page can be edited.

New Page Button

The new page button allows you to create new web pages from the selection of templates your support team has provided you.

Drafts and new pages Panel

Figure 5: The Pages Panel

Situated to the left of the Contribute interface, the Pages Panel displays a list of drafts and new web pages that you have been working on.

Contribute 2 does not store pages in the same way as many other programs.

  • Once you click on the edit page button a copy of the page is downloaded to your local computer. It is this that you then work on.
  • There is no save or load function. Clicking on a previous draft or new page in the pages panel will allow you to load up the work in progress file from your computer.
  • The files are saved once you exit Contribute 2 automatically. Clicking on the Browser option allows you to continue navigating the site to find more pages to edit.

How do I Panel

The How do I Panel is situated on the left of the Contribute interface, just below the Drafts and new pages panel.

Here you will access to useful links that contain information about common tasks using Contribute 2.
