packed audience gathered at the National Library
of Scotland on St Andrew's Day 2007 to celebrate
the launch of two volumes of The Edinburgh History
of the Book in Scotland

Brian Hillyard, Head of Rare Books in the Department
of Collections at the National Library, welcomed
them on behalf of the hosts to the event

Tom
Devine, Sir William Fraser Chair of Scottish
History at the University of Edinburgh, spoke
of the importance of these volumes for the reappraisal
of Scottish history
|
General
Editor, Bill Bell, paid tribute to the production
values of Edinburgh University Press, saying
the design of the books represented 'all that
was good about academic publishing'
|
Editors
of volume 4, David Finkelstein and Alistair
McCleery, spoke of the support they had received
from many quarters, both within the scholarly
community and the Scottish book trade itself
|
Catriona Murray of Edinburgh University Press
thanked the event's sponsors and said how delighted
the Press was to be associated with such a prestigious
project
