Undergraduate StudyIf you are interested in training to become a teacher we offer a number of one year teacher training programmes for graduates (PGDE) in Primary or Secondary Education at the Moray House School of Education. We offer full time PGDE programmes in:
Admissions and Entry RequirementsAnyone who is interested in applying for any of these programmes should submit an application via the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR) and this can be done online via their website. The entry requirements for each these programmes are set in accordance with the Memorandum on Entry Requirements to Courses of Initial Teacher Education in Scotland published by the Scottish Executive Education Department. A more helpful guide to entry requirements can be found on the Teaching in Scotland website which also provides useful information about registration procedures and the profession. We require that all applicants meet the minimum entry requirements stated in the most recent memorandum and in popular areas we often expect students to be able to offer a great deal more. If you are interested in details about the PGDE programmes at Edinburgh you can find more information on the School of Education web pages. Some of our programmes such as the PGDE Primary attract a great many more applications than we have places for. In order to provide guidance about which areas are particularly popular we would advise you to check our admissions statistics for the PGDE programmes. If you would like to discuss entry requirements or admissions procedures for any of our PGDE programmes please contact the College Admissions Office at HSSUG@ed.ac.uk or telephone 0131 650 3565. Top Up To TeachNew for 2007: If you are interested in teaching Maths or English and have recently discovered you do not have sufficient credits in your first degree we can help. The courses will be available for part time study either by distance learning or evening classes.
